IRON STABILIZERS/SEQUESTERING AGENTS |

| INTRODUCTION
Iron will plug producing formations. It may be generated from iron minerals, scale, or rust in the tubulars. When a well is treated with acid, ferric iron is dissolved; however, as the acid spends, iron is precipitated as ferric hydroxide, an insoluble gel which will restrict or plug off flow channels. Iron stabilizers and/or sequestering agents prevent iron from migrating and/or precipitating in the formation. |

Liquid, organic acid used as an acid sequestrant in oil well acidizing operations. OILAID-IS-3 is used to keep dissolved iron in solution. It is typically loaded at 1.3 gal/1000 gal acid per 100 ppm of ferric iron present. Do not treat for total iron, but only for ferric iron. It is important not to exceed the maximum recommended dosages of 40 gal/1000 gal in 15% HCl, and 16gal/1000 gal in 28% HCl. Product Data Sheet |
Crystal, organic chelating agent for oil well acidizing. OILAID-IS-2 is stable to 375° F. It is typically loaded from 6 to 10 lb per 1000 gal of acid or other treating fluid. As with all iron stabilizing agents, loading is determined by the amount of ferric iron encountered during treatment. Product Data Sheet |

Powder organic acid iron sequestrant used for oil well acidizing and other operations. OILAID-IS-4 should be used whenever iron bearing formations or iron scale in pipe is present. In many areas, the majority of wells will have significant amounts of iron scale and corrosion products inside the well tubing. It is, therefore, recommended that iron stabilizers be used in most acid treatments. OILAID-IS-4, in a stabilized acid, acts as a complexing agent to keep dissolved iron in solution after the acid is spent. In alkaline fluids, an excess of the product prevents the precipitation of many iron hydroxides. Typically loaded at 10 lbs/1000 gal of acid or other fluid to complex 500 ppm of ferric iron. Granular iron stabilizer and complexing agent which is especially effective in oilwell acid systems. OILAID-IS-5 stabilizes nine times as much iron as typical stabilizers used. OILAID-IS-5 should be used when acidizing iron bearing formations or when iron scale is present in pipe or tubing. A concentration of 10 lb/1000 gal concentration will stabilize 500 ppm iron, effective at temperatures up to 400°F. Product Data Sheet |
