FLUID LOSS ADDITIVES |
|---|
| INTRODUCTION
Fluid loss additives used for stimulation are essentially synonymous with diverting agents. That is, fluid loss additives act as bridging materials within the treating fluid which restricts the flow of fluid into undesirable, overtreated, or depleted areas of the reservoir and diverts the treatment into the primary areas of interest and production potential. Within a fracture created during a frac job, fine particulate fluid loss additives restrict leak-off of the frac fluid into the formation permeability or hairline fractures exposed at the fracture face. This restriction of leak-off maintains the integrity of the frac fluid. |

Powdered fluid loss control additive combination of petroleum and inert particles. It is partially oil soluble, and is an exceptional product designed for use in lease crudes, kerosene, diesel, residual refined crudes, and acid/oil emulsions. Not affected by temperature or pressure, and oil gravity has very little effect. Performs in oils with up to 20% water content. Dosage:25 - 50 lb/1000 gal of treating fluid. Product Data Sheet |
Powdered fluid loss control additive for use in fresh water, brines, weak acids, and gelled oils. OILAID-FL-15 is compatible with gelling agents such as guar gum HEC, and is especially effective in high- viscosity, crosslinked gel systems and is often used in conjunction with 100 mesh sand. The largest portion of OILAID-FL-15 is a component which is enzyme and temperature degradable for minimum formation damage. The remainder is colloidal particles which will clean up and be produced back. When OILAID-FL-15 is incorporated into a frac fluid, a more efficient fluid is obtained with minimal penetration into the formation matrix. This results in more frac area per gallon of fluid. It is typically loaded at from 25 to 50 lb/100 gal of treating fluid. Product Data Sheet |
Emulsion of oil soluble particles for use in water, brine, or acid fracturing treatments. OILAID-FL-16 greatly reduces the amount of frac fluid leakoff, thereby producing a more efficient, and deeper penetrating frac fluid. This deeper penetration is especially important during acid fracture operations. It is typically loaded from 5 to 20 gal/1000 gal of treating fluids. Product Data Sheet |
Powdered oil soluble resin used for a variety of applications including control of fluid loss in hydraulic and acid fracturing operations, use as a diverting agent in acidizing, and fluid loss control in completion/workover fluids. OILAID-FL-19 is effective to 200° F, and is typically loaded at 10 lbs/1000 gal in fracturing fluids, from 5-10 lb/1000 gal as an acid diverter, and when used for fluid loss control in workover/completion fluids, treat the fluid going over the zone with 10 to 50 lbs/bbl of treating fluid. The dispersion of OILAID-FL-19 is sometimes enhanced by the addition of HYDRO-WET surfactant at 2 to 5 gal / 100 bbl of treating fluid. Product Data Sheet |
Liquid slurry of oil soluble resin used as a fluid loss additive for HCl, HCl/HF, and acetic acids. In acid fracturing, this nonionic product is an effective fluid loss control material which is compatible with acid inhibitors in both live and spent acid. Returning acid has no effect on the material, while producing crude solubilizes the product, allowing for easy cleanup. OILAID-FL-20 is effective to 200°F, with the typical loading of 10 gpt of acid. 200 mesh silica flour, inert fluid loss agent for acid, water, and oil based fracturing fluids. OILAID-FL-21 provides control of fluid loss to induced or naturally-occuring secondary fractures during hydraulic fracturing operations. OILAID-FL-21 is added "on-the-fly" as the fluid is being pumped downhole, and is normally loaded from 20 to 40 lbs/1000 gallons of treating fluid. OILAID-FL-21 is inherently temperature stable. |
Powdered oil soluble fluid loss additive for acid and water based fracturing fluids. OILAID-FL-59 is an effective fluid loss additive and diverting agent in acidizing and fracturing applications, and in oil and/or condensate producing wells where rapid and complete recovery is required. OILAID-FL-59 should not be used in dry gas wells or in oil based treating fluids due to its solubility in hydrocarbons. It is effective to 330° F, and can be supplied in a variety of particle size distributions. Typical loadings vary widely depending on the application, but typically it is run from 20 to 300 lbs/1000 gal in acid fracturing operations, and 20 to 50 lbs/1000 gal in hydraulic fracturing to control leak-off. Due to the low specific gravity of this product, OILAID-FL-59 should be added "on-the-fly" to avoid separation of the product from the treating fluid system. Product Data Sheet |
100 mesh powdered oil soluble resinous fluid loss additive effective in all HCl and HCl/HF acid treatments. OILAID-FL-60 reduces the spurt loss of stimulation fluids without causing significant permeability damage. It acts as a bridging agent during treatment which allows the greatly enhanced fracture extension. Because the material is oil soluble, it will solubilize in the producing hydrocarbons for complete cleanup. It has limited use above 200° F. Typical loadings range from 20 to 50 lbs/1000 gal of treating fluid. Product Data Sheet |
Hydrocarbon based liquid fluid loss additive used at low concentrations in crosslinked water based fracturing fluids. OILAID- FL-65 is ten times more effective at reducing fluid loss than diesel, therefore, greatly reduced concentrations may be employed to achieve similar results. OILAID-FL-65 is normally loaded at 0.5% by volume of treating fluid. Product Data Sheet |
