| INTRODUCTION
Some hydrocarbons, predominantly those which contain high levels of asphalt, have tendencies to form sludge in the presence of live or spent HCl or HCl/HF acid mixtures. The use of Messina acid-sludge agents will eliminate this problem. Some acid-sludge agents are also excellent demulsifiers. |

Strong liquid anioic acid sludge preventer/non-emulsifier. OILAID- AS-4 is a blend of ammonium salts of aryl sulfonates and sulfated oxyalkylated alcohols in an aqueous alcohol solvent system. Typically used at 1.0% (10 gpt) in it's anti-sludge capacity, although addition of 2 to 5 gpt of an addition non-emulsifier may be needed for emulsion prevention. Product Data Sheet

Cationic liquid, for carbonate acidizing, highly water wetting, non- emulsifier/acid sludge preventer. |
Premium anionic liquid, suitable for a wide range of crude oils.Þ Effective non-emulsifier capabilities in many crudes, and will tend to water wet the solids and formation to help acid react quickly. Loadings will vary from 5 to 25 gpt depending on the acid strength and sludging tendencies of the crude. Product Data Sheet

Specially formulated anionic surfactant blend with miscible solvent. OILAID-AS-53 also has non-emulsifier and water wetting tendencies. In acidizing operations, acid reacts with some crudes to form a thick, asphaltic sludge that can block formation permeability. This product prevents the formation of this type of sludge by stabilizing the colloidal constituents inherent in the acid/oil mixture. Typical loadings range from 2 to 10 gpt of acid, with 5 gpt being a common loading. |
