| INTRODUCTION
Acid fracturing of carbonate formations has proven to be an extremely efficient and cost effective method for increasing hydrocarbon production. Fracture acidizing of sandstone or sandstone:carbonate Þmixtures using proppants to support the fracture has also proven to be a highly successful stimulation technique. Acid gellants are used to improve the efficiency and increase the effective treating distance of these types of treatments. |

Acid gellant for 1% to 15% HCl acid mixtures. OILAID-AG-1 is a no-residue product which allows for total cleanup after application. Viscosity is time-limited dependent upon acid strength and gellant concentration. OILAID-AG-1 is applied by continuous mixing operations. Loadings are best determined by laboratory pilot testing prior to use in the field. It is important to incorporate all the the desired acid additives in the system testing procedure to be certain of compatibility and life of the system. |
Specialty powdered polymer blend for viscosifying 15% to 28% HCl mixtures, application 100° F to 300° F. OILAID-AG-2 may be used in either matrix or acid fracturing applications in limestone, dolomite, or mixed carbonate formations. May be field mixed with usual mixing equipment. OILAID-AG-2 is stable in acid at ambient temperatures for several days, and therefore may be mixed in advance of use. Typically loaded at 7.2 kg/cu meter for matrix or low temperature applications. Pilot testing is recommended prior to use in the field. |
Powdered polysaccharide gellant, forms shear thinning acid Þ in concentrations ranging from 1% to 20% HCl, as well as water- based fracturing fluids. Although OILAID-AG-10 systems are shear thinning, at high shear rates it suppresses turbulence keeping minimum friction pressure. Salts have little effect on characteristics of OILAID-AG-10 fluid systems. OILAID-AG-10 is compatible with waters containing NaCl, KCl, and CaCl2. Product Data Sheet |
High temperature liquid gelling agent, effective in 1% to 28% HCl at temperatures up to 350° F. Typically loaded at 2% to 4% by volume of acid. OILAID-AG-20 provides enhanced friction reduction in addition to acid viscosity and retarded reaction rate. Product Data Sheet |
Liquid gelling agent which hydrates very quickly as an acid gellant in hydrochloric acid up to 28% concentration. OILAID-AG-22 provides thick, homogeneous acid gels which mean reduced friction rates during pumping, delayed reaction on the formation face, enhanced tubulars protection, and deeper formation penetration. It is a superior gelling agent for HCl in matrix or fracture acidizing operations in calcareous formations (e.g. limestone, dolomite, etc.). OILAID-AG-22 may be mixed in the field with typical mixing equipment. 0.5 0 5% (5 - 50 GPT) is a typical range for low temperature or matrix cleanup operations, while 60 to 130 lb/1000 gal may be required for high temperature acid fracturing operations.
