ACID CORROSION INHIBITORS AND ACID CORROSION INHIBITORS AIDS

INTRODUCTION (ACID CORROSION INHIBITORS)

All acids are corrosive to steel, i.e. tubing, casing, downhole tools, etc. As the temperature in the wellbore increases the corrosion rate increases, sometimes dramatically, depending on the acid strength and system used in the application. For this reason, acid corrosion inhibitors are mandatory for all acidizing treatments.

OILAID-AI-10

Liquid, organic acid inhibitor, effective to 225° F. Typically run at concentrations up to 0.6 % (6 gpt). Effective when protection from organic acids is desired.

OILAID-AI-22

Liquid, effective in HCl and HCl:HF acid blends, effective up to 250° F. In all acid strengths up to 28 % HCl at loadings from 1 to 20 gpt.

OILAID-AI-29

Specially formulated cationic liquid for HCI or HCI:HF blends used in coiled tubing, as well as other acidizing operations. Effective to 250° F. at loadings ranging from 1 to 10 gpt. Actual required loading is dependent on the acid strength, well temperature, and the amount of corrosion protection required.

Product Data Sheet

OILAID-AI-35

High temperature, HCI or HCI:HF blends, effective to 350° F. Very effective at high temperatures when used with inhibitor aids such as AIA-20 and 22. Loaded from 8 to 60 gpt depending on the bottom hole temperature, the acid concentration, and the amount of corrosion protection required.

INTRODUCTION (ACID CORROSION INHIBITOR AIDS)

Acid corrosion inhibitor aids are used in conjunction with Messina's premium acid corrosionÞ inhibitors to extend the upper temperature limits for effective protection.

OILAID-AIA-20

Organic liquid acid blend which extends some HCI inhibitors to Þ 400° F. OILAID-AIA-20 should be used in systems of inorganic acid systems and OILAID corrosion inhibitors. Loadings will depend on acid concentration, bottom hole temperature, and corrosion inhibitor concentration. May be used in either hydrochloric/hydroflouric acid systems along with hydrochloric acid systems up to 28%. OILAID- AIA-20 is typically loaded from 5 to 80 gal/1000 gal acid.

OILAID-AIA-22

Organic liquid acid blend which extends some HCI inhibitors to Þ 400° F. OILAID-AIA-20 should be used in systems of inorganic acid systems and OILAID corrosion inhibitors. Loadings will depend on acid concentration, bottom hole temperature, and corrosion inhibitor concentration. May be used in either hydrochloric/hydroflouric acid systems along with hydrochloric acid systems up to 28%. OILAID-AIA-20 is typically loaded from 5 to 80 gal/1000 gal acid. An excellent alternative to OILAID-AIA-22.

OILAID-AIA-30

Metallic salt, acid corrosion inhibitor aid designed as a temperature extender for OILAID-AI-29 and AI-35. OILAID-AIA-30 should be added to HCl or HF acids inhibited with OILAID corrosion inhibitors when temperatures are to exceed 250 to 275°F. The exact amount of OILAID-AIA-30 will range from 25 to 100 lbs/1000 gal acid, depending upon acid type and strength, and operating conditions.
