LOST CIRCULATION & SEEPAGE CONTROL MATERIALS |
|---|
| INTRODUCTION
These products seal fractures and pores in permeable low-pressure formations, to prevent loss of drilling fluid into the formations encountered while drilling and cementing. |
|---|
A proprietary formulation for the preparation of a loss of circulation slug that has a high solids content and extremely high water loss characteristics allowing the buildup of a highly permeable plug that penetrates the zone of loss and is quickly sealed off by mud solids. Product Data Sheet
|
A formulation of diatomaceous earth, a fibrous mineral, and lime for the lost circulation control in water base drilling fluids. (*) DIASEL-M is a registered trademark of Phillips Petroleum Co. |
A dry powdered material for the preparation of a "gunk" squeeze. Mixed with diesel oil and spotted in a water bearing zone, GB-Seal outperforms the conventional diesel oil-bentonite squeezes. Product Data Sheet
|
Natural cellulose fibers of different sizes and shapes for maximum plugging of zones of high loss of circulation. |
A special grade of cellophane flakes that is selected for the optimum thickness and sized to a specific range for use in combating zones of high loss of circulation. |
Natural mica in three particle size ranges. |
A new-technology hydrophylic polymer that is prepared by making up an easy-to-pump thick slug in fresh water and then placing downhole into the zone of loss of circulation. Within a short time after placement, Super- Stop begins to swell forming an in-situ gelled mass of a semi-rubbery consistency. A highly impressive office demonstration kit is available to show how Super-Stop works so effectively. |
Similar to Super-Stop (see above) but acid soluble to allow removal when placed in production zones. Product Data Sheet
|
Non-toxic fibrous polysaccharide seepage and loss of circulation product. Extremely effective additive for any drilling mud to eliminate loss of the fluid to permeable formations such as coarse sands. Hole-Seal-II is bio- degradable and acid soluble to a degree but most important, when used in production zones, is easily removed (flushed out) when the well is brought onto production. A simple and highly impressive office demonstration kit is available to show how Hole-Seal-II quickly and effectively prevents hole mud from penetration a coarse sand and, how it can be easily flush out. |
Non-toxic preferentially oil wet fibrous product for control of seepage and loss of circulation in oil muds. Extremely effective additive to eliminate loss of the fluid to permeable formations such as coarse sands. Hole- Seal-OB is available in two forms--fine grade for seepage loss control, and coarse grade for the control of whole mud losses in oil-base muds. |
Ground nut shell of high compressive strength in three particle size ranges for use in fractureed or highly porous zones. The product, because of the unique shape of the particles, is also used to reduce torque and drag in directional well drilling. Product Data Sheet

Engineered blend of fibers, particulates, and flakes for use in any drilling fluid for moderate to severe loss of circulation. Mesuco-Seal is Messina's equivalent product to Kwik-Seal (which is also available through Messina). |
Blend of fibers, particulates, and flakes for use in any drilling fluid for moderate to severe loss of circulation. It is equivalent to Messina's MESUCO-SEAL-Seal. Product Data Sheet
|
Very unique formulated product system that is designed to provide a very viscous plugging agent in zones of high seepage or loss of circulation. Mega-Seal can be used as an effective surface hole drilling fluid and hole sweep. The added feature of Mega-Seal is that when placed in a lost circulation zone it will break down within a few days but, can be extended with the incorporation of Welcide into the fluid. When Mega-Link is added to the Mega-Seal fluid on the fly, crossing linking will occur downhole and in the zone of loss of circulation to form a tenacious rubber-like mass. A Mega-Seal/Mega-Link office demonstration kit is available to show the effectiveness of this state-of-the art product/system.
