INORGANIC VISCOSIFIERS |
|---|
| INTRODUCTION
These materials are all based on earth minerals with varying degrees of processing, and are used as primary viscosifiers or co-viscosifiers in most drilling fluid systems.
|
|---|
API grade bentonite, for use in fresh and brackish muds. Also an important fluid loss agent in fresh water muds. Can be used in virtually all muds if prehydrated first in fresh water. |
OCMA/API International/European grade bentonite, for use in fresh and brackish muds. Also functions as a fluid loss reducing agent in fresh water muds. Can be used in virtually all muds if prehydrated in fresh water.
|
API non-treated premium grade bentonite. Same applications as MESUCO-GEL, but exhibits superior performance in demanding applications such as in high temperature and/or contaminated mud systems. Puregel is an excellent bentonite for use as a cement additive (see CA-EX5 in Messina's Cementing Catalogue) to reduce cement slurry densities, fluid loss, etc. |
Special mined and processed ultra high-yielding bentonite for low solids mud systems. |
API grade sepiolite, used primarily in salt and high temperature and/or geothermal muds to develop and maintain viscosity. No gelation or dehydration occurs at temperatures up to 600°F/315°C. Product Data Sheet

API grade attapulgite clay, used primarily in salt muds. |
